Support through difficult seasons of life, with a focus on pregnancy & postpartum

Hi, I’m Petie (she/her)

I’m a therapist working virtually with adults one-on-one across Washington State. I work with people navigating the ups and downs of life, with a particular focus on pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting.

I believe meaningful therapy is built on authentic relationship. I approach people with curiosity, compassion, and respect for the wisdom they bring about their own lives. My work is trauma-informed and grounded in the belief that people make sense in the context of their experiences, biology, and relationships. I love what I do and I’m honored to work with each individual who crosses my path. I’m glad you are here.

I am currently accepting clients. I take Premera, Lifewise, provide superbills if you are out of network and accept private pay clients.

Working Together

Most people, at some point in life, could use a little backup. Sometimes life shifts beneath you and the footing you once had just isn’t there anymore. It is normal and healthy to seek out support when processing a challenging situation or struggling with something personal. Going to therapy doesn’t mean something about you is wrong or broken - if anything it’s a sign of strength.

In sessions, we’ll talk about what has been happening in your life and what you are struggling with. Together we uncover and give space to the difficult thoughts and feelings that are coming up for you. You may want to strengthen your relationships, define your career trajectory, or finally get to the bottom of a longstanding question or struggle. Whatever the topic, our work together happens at your pace and in partnership. Over time, many people who work with me find more clarity, self-compassion, acceptance and empowerment.

I enjoy working with all people, and will honor the identities and backgrounds that shape you. You are welcome as you are.

Perinatal and Early Parenting Support

I work with people experiencing a variety of struggles and tough seasons, and specialize in reproductive mental health. Adding a baby to your family can be tender, transformative and far more challenging than people expect. People sometimes feel numb, anxious, overwhelmed, teary, angry, fearful and like their world has been turned upside down. These experiences are common, treatable and deeply deserving of support.

I also help parents find more ease, joy and connection in their relationship with their young child. I am a trained Circle of Security Facilitator and have supported many parents in strengthening attachment and better understanding their child’s needs and behaviors. Many parents find this work grounding, orienting and meaningful.

This period of life can feel so isolating and lonely. Whether you are trying to decide if parenthood is right for you, grieving through infertility, or deep in the throes of parenting many children, I’d be honored to support you.

Approaches

I take an integrative approach and draw from different modalities depending on your needs and goals. I have training in the following:

●       Somatic approaches to trauma

●       Attachment

●       Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

●       Internal Family Systems (IFS)

●       Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

●       Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

●       Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Background and Training

I am an associate clinical social worker practicing under the supervision of Mia Edidin.

I trained at the Swedish Center for Perinatal Bonding and Support, a partial hospitalization program that supports birthing parents experiencing acute postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.

I hold a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Denver. I earned a BA from Colby College and an MBA from Clark University. I worked in consulting for 10+ years prior to becoming a therapist.

I’m originally from beautiful northwest Montana and now live in West Seattle with my husband, three children and a fluffy orange cat. Outside of work, I enjoy nature, music, food and being with people I love.
